The purpose of this letter is to inform you of a very exciting development pertaining to RAZADYNE (galantamine HBr), a medication indicated for mild to moderate dementia of the Alzheimer's type:

RAZADYNE ER (galantamine HBr), the once-daily formulation of RAZADYNE (formerly REMINYL [galantamine HBr]), is now available.

We are very pleased to announce hat RAZADYNE ER, the new, convenient once-daily formulation of RAZADYNE, is now available. RAZADYNE ER builds on the legacy of efficacy established by RAZADYNE. In a large scale clinical study involving more than 900 patients, RAZADYNE ER demonstrated the ability to maintain patients cognitive and functional abilities at 6 months. These results help demonstrate that, like RAZADYNE, for many patients RAZADYNE ER effectively delays the symptom progression of Alzheimer's disease.

Daily dosages of RAZADYNE ER are equivalent to those of RAZADYNE, and there is no special protocol or retitration phase necessary for switching patients from RAZADYNE to RAZADYNE ER. Making the transition is easy. Patients can end one day with twice daily RAZADYNE at dinner and begin the next day with once-daily RAZADYNE ER at breakfast.

In clinical trials, the most frequent adverse events with RAZADYNE ER were similar to those with RAZADYNE (formerly REMINYL). The most frequent adverse events that occurred with RAZADYNE were nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, and weight loss.

Please remember that the REMINYL brand name is changing to RAZADYNE. To help eliminate the possibility of confusion, we ask that you continue to provide your patients/customers with this information every time you write or fill a prescription for RAZADYNE.
