Help for Humana members impacted by Hurricane Katrina

To help Humana pharmacy members who have been impacted by Hurricane Katrina, we are modifying certain procedures for filling pharmacy claims. These measures are intended to ease access to needed prescriptions. Some of the changes include:

-  Waiving pharmacy restrictions on refills, so prescriptions that were lost or left behind during evacuation may be refilled early. Also, authorizing payment to pharmacies to fill at least a 30 day supply of prescription medications regardless of the last date of refill.

-  Allowing members whose physician cannot follow usual pre-certification or step-therapy procedure to fill a prescription that would normally require these authorizations. The authorization will be for one 30 day supply.
