Betaseron...New Presentation...Same Benefits...non-refrigerated, non-acidic formulation
Berlex Laboratories is pleased to inform you that effective January 19th, 2004 Betaseron® (Interferon beta-1b) will be available with a Pre-Filled Diluent Syringe in the same non-refrigerated, non--acidic formulation providing even greater convenience for you and your patients. Handling of the product remains the same for you and your patients.
A Proactive Approach
Berlex is requesting your expertise in managing the existing inventory of the current vial/vial presentation as we transition to the pre-filled diluent syringe presentation. Because of the nature of the Betaseron therapy, we understand that most pharmacies do not stock the product but rather rely on their wholesaler to provide product through the wholesaler's next-day delivery capabilities. We ask you continue to take advantage of this service.
If you are currently stocking the product, we request that you manage the existing inventory to zero by december 31st, 2003 and rely on your wholesaler for an as-needed next-day delivery of the current vial/vial presentation. Your wholesaler is working with Berlex to ensure a smooth transition from the vial/vial presentation to the Pre-filled Diluent Syringe Presentation.
Non-Returnable
Your wholsaler is not authorized to accept returns of the vial/vial presentations; Berlex will not accept returns of the vial/vial presentation. It is not necessary to return the vial/vial presentation of Betaseron even when the new presentation becomes available. Until your wholesaler fulfills your order with the Pre-Filled Diluent Syringe Presentation, please continue to dispense the vial/vial presentation. This will ensure you are able to meet the needs of your Betaseron patients with no interruption to their therapy.
NDC Number Change
Lastly, please note that a New NDC has been issued for the Pre-Filled Diluent Syringe Presentation. The old NDC 50419-523-15 will be discontinued and the NDC 50419-523-25 will be implemented. All other services remain the same. Berlex will continue to offer the services of MS Pathways™ support program, which includes reimbersement services.
